Denise Gardner, Chief of Staff at the Louisiana Department of Insurance (LDI), has been honored with the prestigious Robert Dineen Award for her exceptional service and significant contributions to the state’s insurance regulatory system. The award was presented during the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) Fall Annual Meeting held in Orlando, Florida.

With a distinguished 32-year career, Gardner has held various leadership positions and played a crucial role in steering the LDI through numerous challenges faced by Louisiana. Notably, she served as the chairwoman of the Louisiana Citizens Property Insurance Corporation, the state’s insurer of last resort.

Insurance Commissioner Jim Donelon praised Gardner’s remarkable contributions, stating, “Denise has been an incredible asset to the LDI over the past 30 years and is certainly one of the most consequential leaders to have ever been involved in the regulation of Louisiana’s insurance industry.” He highlighted her strong leadership during critical periods, including the recovery of the property market after hurricanes Katrina and Rita, as well as in the aftermath of hurricanes Laura and Ida.
