Great Eastern and AmMetLife Cancel Acquisition Deal

Great Eastern Holdings Limited (GEH) and its affiliates have called off their planned acquisition of AmMetLife Insurance Berhad and AmMetLife Takaful Berhad.

The deal, initially signed on October 2, 2023, saw GEH subsidiaries, Great Eastern Life Assurance (Malaysia) Berhad (GELM) and Great Eastern Takaful Berhad (GETB), set to acquire 100% of AmMetLife Insurance and AmMetLife Takaful from AMAB Holdings Sdn Bhd and MetLife International Holdings, LLC.

In a statement, the insurer confirmed that all parties have mutually agreed to cancel the transaction and will not move forward with the acquisition.
