Hanoi’s Social Security Office has exceeded its 2024 health insurance goals, covering 95.25% of the city’s population, equating to 8,169,748 individuals. This marks a 2.3% year-on-year increase in coverage.
The success was driven by the collaborative efforts between the Social Security Office and city authorities, implementing social and health insurance policies under the guidance of two resolutions from the City People’s Council and 19 directives from the City People’s Committee.
Unemployment insurance also saw growth, with 2,100,671 people enrolled, a 5.55% increase from the previous year. This figure surpasses the target by 4.9%, now covering 44.9% of the working-age population.
The office collected $2.8 billion (VND 70.6 trillion) in premiums for social, health, and unemployment insurance, exceeding the assigned target by reaching 105%—a 14.8% increase from 2023. Late payment rates also improved, dropping to 2.08%, a reduction of 0.26% from the previous year.
In total, 638,982 social and unemployment insurance claims were processed, amounting to payments of $359.6 million (VND 9.22 trillion). Lump-sum social insurance payments were issued to 40,323 individuals, a decrease of 3.66% from the previous year.
Pensions and monthly social insurance payments were disbursed to 596,000 beneficiaries, totaling $1.8 billion (VND 45.1 trillion), with 99.04% of payments made through personal bank accounts.
Health insurance expenditures reached $989.7 million (VND 25.38 trillion), including $264.3 million (VND 6.8 trillion) for outpatient care and $725.4 million (VND 18.6 trillion) for inpatient treatment.
The Social Security Office conducted 5,041 inspections, recovering $19.5 million (VND 500 billion) in late payments and reclaiming $33,994.20 (VND 871.8 million) in erroneous benefit disbursements.
Hanoi also advanced its digital transformation, with over 4.18 million users of the VssID digital insurance platform, processing more than 14 million online applications.
