The Malaysian general insurance sector has taken swift action to assist individuals and businesses impacted by the recent gas pipeline explosion in Putra Heights. The explosion, which resulted in over 305 injuries, also caused significant damage, affecting 237 homes, 88 buildings, and 331 private vehicles.
In response, insurers are fast-tracking claims for policyholders with motor, personal accident, retail fire, homeowners, and householders’ insurance policies.
Ng Kok Kheng, Chairman of the General Insurance Association of Malaysia (PIAM), noted that the industry anticipates a substantial number of claims due to the extensive damage caused by the incident.
