Euclid Transactional Expands in APAC with New Tax Underwriter Appointment

by Celia

Euclid Transactional, a leading provider of transactional insurance solutions, has appointed Wai Ling Low as its first tax underwriter based in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. This strategic move expands the firm’s tax insurance underwriting presence into APAC, strengthening its global footprint.

Low, who joins Euclid Transactional as Senior Vice President and Tax Underwriter for APAC, will be based in the firm’s Singapore office. In her new role, she will focus on underwriting tax liability risks related to mergers and acquisitions (M&A) across the region and managing broker partnerships.

Bringing Expertise to APAC

With over ten years of experience in corporate tax advisory, particularly in structuring cross-border M&A transactions, Low is well-equipped to support Euclid’s growing APAC operations. She previously worked at EY Singapore as an Associate Partner and was part of PwC’s corporate tax team. Low holds a degree in accountancy from the National University of Singapore and is an accredited tax advisor recognized by the Singapore Chartered Tax Professionals.

Chris Waddington expressed excitement about Low’s appointment, calling it a crucial step in expanding Euclid Transactional’s global tax insurance platform.

“We are thrilled to welcome Wai Ling to our global tax insurance team,” Waddington said. “Her expertise will enable us to offer local tax underwriting capabilities in the APAC region for the first time.”

Strategic Expansion in APAC

Euclid Transactional’s APAC team, led by Managing Director Alice Ho, has been growing to meet the increasing demand for transaction-related insurance solutions in the region. Ho highlighted that Low’s appointment reflects the company’s long-term strategic goals for the APAC market.

“Wai Ling’s extensive APAC tax expertise will strengthen our ability to provide integrated solutions to our partners in the region,” Ho said. “This hire underscores our commitment to APAC, and we are excited to continue investing in talent to meet our partners’ needs.”

Euclid Transactional specializes in underwriting insurance for M&A, tax liabilities, and contingent risks. The company employs over 140 professionals across ten global offices, and its claims team is one of the largest in the transactional insurance sector.

M&A Trends in APAC

Low’s appointment coincides with a strong start to the M&A market in 2025. According to WTW’s Quarterly Deal Performance Monitor (QDPM), acquirers in the first quarter of 2025 outperformed their regional index by 5.8 percentage points, marking the first time global M&A performance has turned positive since 2022.

The QDPM, which tracks deals valued over US$100 million, reported 44 such transactions in APAC during the quarter, a decline from 61 in the previous period. Despite the dip in deal volume, the region saw improved performance compared to prior quarters.

The global M&A report, compiled with Bayes Business School’s M&A Research Centre, revealed that acquirers globally outperformed the market by 1.5 percentage points in Q1, ending a seven-quarter streak of underperformance.
