Swiss Re Corporate Solutions has officially closed its Hong Kong office and surrendered its operating license as part of a broader plan to streamline operations and focus on mainland China.
In a public statement, the company explained that this move is part of its strategy to better serve Chinese corporate clients through its mainland offices. “We have taken the strategic decision to consolidate Swiss Re Corporate Solutions operations servicing Chinese corporations into our mainland China offices,” the statement said.
Despite the closure, existing business originating from Hong Kong will continue to be supported. The company also clarified that this decision does not affect Swiss Re’s reinsurance operations in Hong Kong, which are handled by a different legal entity. “As a Group, we remain committed to the Hong Kong market,” the statement added.
Swiss Re also confirmed that it is providing support to employees affected by the closure and is in discussions with them about possible relocation and reassignment opportunities.
