FWD Hong Kong has launched two new medical insurance plans to support the growing demand for cross-border healthcare in the Greater Bay Area (GBA).
New Medical Plans Respond to Growing GBA Needs
FWD has introduced the GBAssure Outpatient Plan and the NobleCare Premier Medical Plan. These plans aim to serve both general customers and high-net-worth individuals who seek flexible and comprehensive medical coverage across Hong Kong, Macau, and mainland China.
High Demand for Cross-Border Healthcare
A recent survey showed that 30% of Hong Kong residents have already sought treatment in mainland China. Over 76% see benefits in accessing medical services across the border. This growing interest has led to the development of new products designed to meet patient needs on both sides of the border.
Features of the GBAssure Outpatient Plan
The GBAssure Outpatient Plan covers outpatient services in Hong Kong, Macau, and specific cities in mainland China. The plan does not require medical underwriting, making it easier for people to join.
The services covered include:
- General and psychiatric consultations
- Diagnostic imaging services
- Colonoscopy procedures
- Traditional Chinese medicine consultations
This plan is designed for convenience and affordability, with a focus on day-to-day medical needs.
Features of the NobleCare Premier Medical Plan
The NobleCare Premier Medical Plan is a global product aimed at high-net-worth individuals. It offers lifetime coverage with no cap on lifetime benefits and up to HK$30 million in annual coverage.
Other key features include:
- Access to over 300 elite hospitals in mainland China
- Cashless hospital admission arrangements
- Four global coverage options
- Six deductible levels to suit different budgets
- Guaranteed renewal until age 101
This plan supports long-term protection and international medical access.
Expanded Cancer Support Services Through HKSH Partnership
FWD is also strengthening its partnership with HKSH Medical Group, a collaboration that has lasted five years. The partnership now includes enhanced cancer care services.
New additions to the service include:
Cancer concierge services
Doctor-to-doctor tele-opinions across borders
Long-term rehabilitation planning
FWD reports that 71% of critical illness claims in 2024 were related to cancer. These support services aim to guide patients from diagnosis to recovery with better coordination and ongoing care.
Meeting the Needs of a Changing Market
FWD’s expansion into cross-border health insurance shows its commitment to innovation and customer-centric solutions. By offering plans without underwriting and with global coverage, FWD is opening new paths to medical access for both everyday users and premium clients.
Looking Ahead
FWD plans to continue its efforts to serve the Greater Bay Area’s evolving healthcare demands. With broader coverage and stronger partnerships, it aims to make cross-border care more accessible, secure, and complete.
