The Insurance Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka has introduced a new rule that requires all licensed insurance brokerages to have at least one employee with the Advanced Diploma from the Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII).
This decision follows a request by the Sri Lanka Insurance Brokers’ Association, which had asked for updates to the previous rules on broker qualifications.
Gaenor Jones, Regional Director for the Chartered Insurance Institute covering the Middle East, Central, and South Asia, said the change would help raise professional standards within Sri Lanka’s insurance sector.
