Aon and Moody’s Insurance Solutions have announced an expansion of their partnership, moving beyond reinsurance casualty to now include commercial risk.
The new phase of the collaboration aims to provide deeper insights into climate-related liability, social inflation, and other fast-evolving risks. It will also offer risk mitigation strategies and named-peril products tailored to excess casualty insurance buyers.
As risks tied to legal trends and litigation financing grow in both frequency and impact, named-peril insurance products are gaining importance. These products help businesses manage risks more efficiently by offering clearer coverage terms, reducing uncertainty over exclusions, policy limits, and potential disputes.
The expanded partnership brings together Moody’s advanced technology — which models over 300 emerging casualty perils — and Aon’s global reach in both traditional insurance and alternative capital markets. Together, they aim to improve how capital is directed toward risk, helping clients make smarter decisions about their casualty insurance portfolios.
Amanda Lyons, Aon’s global product leader for reinsurance solutions, said the partnership is now delivering better-aligned insurance products with improved pricing for both commercial and reinsurance markets. “This helps businesses make better decisions and supports reinsurance clients and original buyers in confidently pursuing growth strategies,” she said.
Robert Reville, head of casualty market development at Moody’s, noted that rising volatility in liability risks is affecting all levels of the insurance chain — from buyers to reinsurers. “In this environment, we expect named-peril products to lead to the emergence of a casualty catastrophe market. We are delighted to work with Aon to drive such innovation in the re/insurance market,” he added.
