In response to the growing home insurance crisis in California, CBS Los Angeles began a dedicated week of coverage on June 2, 2025. The initiative, called “Home Insurance: We’ve Got You Covered,” aims to help Southern Californians understand their rights, keep up with policy changes, and prepare for what lies ahead.
The series includes detailed reports, expert interviews, and opportunities for viewers to speak directly with insurance professionals. Many residents in the Los Angeles area are struggling with rising premiums, policy non-renewals, and fewer coverage options.
The first two days featured reports explaining how recent wildfires and other events have affected the local insurance market. CBS also hosted a live three-hour phone bank, where attorneys, consumer advocates, and insurance experts answered 500 calls from concerned viewers.
On Thursday, June 5, at 7 p.m. local time, CBS will air a one-hour town hall hosted by Pat Harvey. The event will include a panel of industry representatives, survivors, and policy experts. This town hall will be repeated on June 7 at 8 p.m., followed by a wrap-up special at 9 p.m.
This weeklong initiative aims to provide much-needed guidance to homeowners facing uncertainty in California’s challenging insurance market.
