Players and officials in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) are set to benefit from upgraded life and injury insurance coverage following key resolutions reached at an expanded meeting of the league’s Club Owners’ Forum in Abuja, The PUNCH reports.
According to a communiqué released Thursday by the forum’s secretary, Amobi Ezeaku, participants unanimously ratified crucial amendments to the NPFL Framework and Rules — with enhanced insurance schemes taking center stage.
The newly approved “enhanced life and injury insurance schemes for players and officials” are designed to better protect the welfare and long-term security of those actively involved in the domestic league.
The forum hailed the move as a landmark step toward improving player welfare and supporting technical personnel across the league.
In addition to welfare reforms, the meeting featured a comprehensive review of the 2024/2025 season. Attendees praised the campaign as one of the most efficiently run in recent history, citing improved matchday organization, consistent fixture adherence, and operational effectiveness.
The forum also passed a vote of confidence in the Nigeria Football Federation, applauding the leadership of NFF President Ibrahim Gusau for ongoing efforts to develop football across the country.
