A heated legal battle has started between insurance giant Heritage Insurance and field adjuster Jordan Lee amid fallout from Hurricane Ian claims.
Heritage alleges Lee inflated claims by manipulating labor costs, ordering excessive materials, and misusing software tools. They have sued Lee for fraud and defamation.
Jordan Lee, who says 44 out of 46 of his detailed adjustment reports were altered and lowered by Heritage, defended his work publicly and testified before Florida lawmakers. His attorney calls the fight a “David versus Goliath” case.
Homeowner Jeff Rapkin, caught in the middle, had his claim slashed from over $230,000 to about $15,000 after Lee’s initial report. Rapkin disputes Heritage’s low payout, supported by a public adjuster and engineer who valued damages well above Heritage’s figures, including a roof repair estimate of $56,000 from Heritage’s own expert.
Rapkin, who lost his home, remains resolute in pursuing what he believes he is owed.
