Ms. Prisca Soares, the immediate past Executive Secretary of the African Insurance Organisation (AIO), has urged the creation of innovative platforms to increase insurance awareness and penetration across Nigeria.
Speaking at a press briefing to launch the nominations portal for this year’s Almond Insurance Industry Awards, Soares emphasized the vital role the awards play in promoting the insurance sector. She highlighted the need for more initiatives like this to bridge the gap between awareness and actual insurance uptake in the country’s large population.
“Soares said the Almond Insurance Industry Awards serve as a key platform to educate Nigerians about insurance,” the briefing noted. She expressed confidence in the awards’ ability to positively showcase the industry, citing strong participation and feedback from previous years.
To align the Almond Awards with international best practices, some award categories were removed while new ones were added to promote inclusivity across the sector. The 2025 edition will continue to uphold these standards.
After nominations close, a panel of judges will review entries, shortlist candidates, and manage a transparent voting process before announcing the winners.
